Every guide starts from the same question: will this still earn its place in your bag on day ten of a multi-city trip?

How we check what we write

Airline bag limits, rail rules and product specs change often, so we check them against the source: the airline’s or rail operator’s own page, and the brand’s own product page for sizes, weights and materials. Where sources disagree or a detail is not settled, we say so or leave it out. Before you fly, check your own fare’s current bag rules, since budget carriers change them by ticket type.

How we choose products

Our picks come from each product’s published specs, weighed against what a Europe trip actually asks of it: long walking days, small cabin-bag allowances, tight train luggage racks and changeable weather. We do not test every product by hand, and we never invent prices, ratings or test results. Product details can change, so check the current listing before you buy.
